British Made, Family Run
Built on decades of experience, Fortis & Field is part of a British, family-run manufacturing business with strong roots in quality metalwork. Every product reflects a hands-on approach, combining practical design with a deep understanding of how storage is used in real environments. From initial fabrication through to finishing, care and precision sit at the heart of the process, ensuring each solution meets the demands of everyday use. With full control over production and continued investment in modern technology, we deliver storage solutions that are reliable, well-made and built to last in rural, equestrian and professional settings.
Timeline
1980
The business starts and thrives manufacturing bespoke retail metal work for many well-known brands.
25th July- 1990
HEC Mansfield Limited is Incorporated; in 1997 this becomes HEC Showman Limited as we are today.
1996
Our new factory is built, and we moved in in 1997.
1999
Our second factory is constructed to house our own paint shop.
2000
Our dedicated powder coating facility is installed allowing us complete control over the painting of our own products.
2001
KnightWatchman brand is created. Later changed to KnightWatch, we started manufacturing our range of shotgun cabinets and saddle safes.
2005
On the back of the sale of a shotgun cabinet to a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Medical brand was created to cover our new range of controlled drugs cabinets.
2013
The next generation of the family joins the company putting a focus on our own product ranges and offerings.
2017
Our first laser cutting machine is installed, a Co2 Amada laser.
2019
Our main factory is extended providing us with extra space.
2020
Our second laser cutting machine is installed, replacing our first. This time an energy efficient Amada Fibre laser with the capacity to cut 3m x 4m flat sheets.
2023
Our second mezzanine is installed in our main factory.
2024
Our powder coating plant overgoes a complete overhaul. Adding new application booths, automated guns and a new, longer track increasing our production capacity.
2024
We sign the lease on our third factory, this time renting 13,000 square foot of additional warehousing space.
2025
Fortis and Field is launched. A new platform aimed at offering our products and supporting equipment to the rural community, incusing farmers, vets amongst others.
2026
New production robots are planned, as is a new mezzanine for our paint shop to give us more valuable floor space.
